Longtime residents Catherine Nunneley and then Trina Wherry were the first "official" forest stewards of Harrison Ridge. They navigated the Seattle Park bureaucracies, obtained plants, organized and led work parties of students, neighbors and recruits during the decade before Covid. The two took over the reins from an earlier generation of community activists brought together by Jerry and Peggy Sussman in the early 1990s to preserve this forested area from developers. Its a fascinating story and fortunately, Catherine has written a five part history of the 30 years of community effort that has led to today's greenbelt. It can be found carefully hidden deep in the archives of the the Madison Valley blog beginning on March 6 2017 and ending on April 14th. Thank you so much for your efforts!
